Commercial Property Drone Photo: Saunders Yachtworks, Gulf Shores, Alabama
Working in tandem with Option 3 Media, we took aerial photos of Saunders Yachtworks. This photo will be used in their advertising booklet and banners for various displays.
We are flying within a hundred yards of Jack Edwards Airport. This raises a few questions with people.
- Are you able to fly so close to an airport? In this case, yes. The reason is that we are actually in Class G airspace where FAA certified remote pilots can fly. Hobby flyers (or non-certified drone operators) must fly 5 miles from this location. Jack Edwards airspace is Class E and begins at 700 feet above ground. We are only 150 feet. Still, this is a highly-trafficked airport for this area and military uses this airport. We are constantly watching for air traffic constantly.
- Why not take the picture from a helicopter or airplane? Helicopters and airplanes must be at 700 feet or above in this location. Camera operators need to use high telescopic lenses. They lose detail at that height.
- Why choose Evmikna/Option3Media for these photos? Many certified remote pilots have difficulty flying in this area. We are quite successful and have minimal difficulties.
